I did not get into photography because I thought of myself as an artist. What caught my attention was the technology. Digital SLR cameras were becoming more capable, and I wanted to understand how they worked.
I started learning about lenses, exposure, shutter speed, aperture, sensors, and all the technical pieces behind making an image. Then something unexpected happened.
The more time I spent looking through the viewfinder, the more I started noticing things I had never paid much attention to before. Light. Shapes. Reflections. Details. The way a scene could change depending on where I stood or what I chose to include.
Photography started as another technology I wanted to understand. It ended up changing the way I looked at the world.
